Privacy is a person's right to control what information about him or her is collected and to determine how that information is used. Motorola recognizes privacy as a concern for its consumers, customers and employees.

We hold personal information about our employees and collect personal information about our customers to help us provide products and services. We recognize that providing our customers with an efficient service must not compromise protection of their privacy.

Motorola works with its major business partners to ensure a common understanding of consumer concerns. As we continue to grow our consumer business, we strive to implement appropriate privacy processes to ensure we maintain the trust of our customers.

Our Data Protection Office coordinates compliance with privacy laws and regulations at the corporate level. The heads of our business units are responsible for compliance at the business-unit level. Our business security managers, data protection staff and members of the privacy working group raise awareness about our privacy policies and practices and provide advice and assistance to employees.

Employees who violate our policies are subject to disciplinary action, including dismissal, and agents and subcontractors can face contractual penalties or termination. We also have taken steps to prevent our customers’ privacy from being compromised by incorporating technology into our products that protects against external interference. Motorola has assembled internal security and privacy councils within each business unit to provide advice and assistance during product development and normal business operations.
